I01 PHARMACOPOEIA OF THE PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC OF CHINA (2000 English Edition) the total impression only 1,000 sets
2000 English edition of Pharmacopoeia of China compiled by the Pharmacopoeia Commission has been published ahead of schedule one year . It is an official and authoritative compendium of drugs. It covers almost traditional Chinese medicines, most of west medicines and preparations, giving information on the standards of purity, description, test, dosage, precaution, storage, and the strength for each drug.
The pharmacopoeia 2000 is published in 2 volumes, with rather extensive revision. It contains up to 2691 monographs of drugs and other articles with 399 new admissions in comparison with that of Chinese pharmacopoeia 1999. In volume I, it contains 992 monographs of Chinese materia medica and traditional Chinese patent medicines, etc., with 76 new admissions and 248 revisions; 1699 monographs of chemicals, antibiotics, biochemicals, radiopharmaceuticals, biological products with 323 new admissions and 314 revisions are compiled in volume II; thus taking a great step forward to play an important role in applying the pharmacopoeia as the main part and authority of national standardization system of drugs. There are 90 monographs with 10 new admissions and 31 revisions in the appendix of volume I, and 124 monographs with 27 new admissions and 32 revisions in that of volume II. Appropriate monographs in the appendix adopted in general in both volumes are compiled in each volume, respectively. 4 monographs admitted to Chinese pharmacopoeia 1995 are deleted in this edition.
Modern analytical techniques are adopted extensively in the requirements of the monographs. For example, thin layer chromatography method has been applied in tests for identification in 604 monographs.
